Seeing the Beyond

Gregory Palamas
"Spirit has helped the saints to transcend themselves… Those who are united to God and deified fix their eyes on God in a way that is divine. They see not as we do, but with a sense beyond the senses and the mind beyond thinking. It is a miracle. The Spirit penetrates the human faculty with its power, enabling them to see things utterly beyond us."
Triad, Quoted in God Seekers by Richard Schmidt, page 134

(Gregory Palamas (born 1296) was a monk of Mount Athos in Greece and later the Archbishop of Thessaloniki known as a preeminent theologian of Hesychasm.)
