One Last Word on Restlessness

Plato
"We are fired into life with a madness that comes from the gods."

From Patricia: That very 'madness' is the seed of our restlessness. Perhaps you may enjoy hearing a brief (5 minute) talk on the subject by one of my favorite authors and speakers, Fr. Ronald Rolheiser: Living in the Image and Likeness of God.

  1. This idea, I confess, is entirely new to me: I hadn't thought about it one way or the other. Intuitively, it feels right and obvious and at the heart of our highs and lows. It certainly speaks to the perils of trying to go it alone in youth and finding oneself caught up in addictive excesses later, an important theme in my life. Blessings, Patricia. Peter

  2. The majority of the quotes last week pointed at the same idea, that the gnawing feeling of dissatisfaction so common in us, is the material out of which the longing for God/Truth is formed. The Gnostics held this idea as well, that in each of us is a spark of the Great Fire!
