Invitation to Turn Aside

St. Anselm
Dear Soul, come and turn aside for a while from your daily work, escape for a moment from your turbulent thinking.  Put aside your weighty cares,  let your burdensome distractions wait,  free yourself for a while for God and rest for a time in him.
Enter the inner recesses of your soul, shut out everything but God and what can help you to seek him.
Then, when you have closed the door, seek him.
Now, my whole heart, say to God,  “I seek your face,  Lord, it is your face that I seek”. [Psalm 27:8].

From the Proslogion

  1. This beautiful advice gets to where the action is, doesn't it. It's above theology and far above our efforts to make the world change in our image.

    1. It is surprising how much our view of the world does change, when we can follow this advice.
