“What is interesting about the Christian Pentecost is that it was not the revelation of anything new, but the revelation of what the disciples already knew. It was like waking up to the fact they already knew the truth, only had not recognized it. Probably everyone has had the experience of knowing something, yet unable to be clear as to its real meaning, its why’s and wherefore’s.
"Since the apostles already had all the knowledge they needed, the grace of Pentecost was the wonderful realization when it all came together, was seen in a whole new Light. This was knowing Christ in the Light of God, instead of through the human medium, Jesus. Now they had absolute certitude of what they knew, knew its Truth without a doubt, and on this Truth they staked their lives – indeed, with the exception of John, like Jesus, they gave their lives for this Truth. Pentecost, then, is tied up with the revelation of the incarnate Logos – the true Christ.”

DeleteAccording to Bernadette's book, Jesus was not "WHO" Christ was nor "WHO" Christ is. Jesus was a singular, individual Person, whereas Christ is no singular individual person. Christ is a Universal, not an individual.
ReplyDeleteYou are commenting on my saying that the Apostles realized "who" Jesus was. And what you say is entirely correct. However, that is most likely not how the Apostles would have put it, so I wrote it in that way. Thank you for the correction - I appreciate hearing from you. Patricia
