To Dispense Grace

Philip Yancey
"To follow Jesus does not mean to solve every human problem. Christ himself did not attempt that. But rather to respond as he did, against all reason, to dispense Grace and love to those who deserve it least."
Soul Survivor, page 142
Those who are the most difficult to love are often those who need it most.

(From Patricia: Soul Survivor is a book I am enjoying. The subtitle is “How Thirteen Unlikely Mentors Helped My Faith Survive the Church”. It has an abbreviated account of the lives and work of the “mentors” but additionally Mr. Yancey’s writing about his own life and  growth is worth reading. The mentors include Gandhi, Martin Luther King, a Zen Roshi and ten others.)
