Make Use of Each Moment

Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection

“Let us hold back no longer – let us return into ourselves and break the dyke that dams it, let us  make way for grace, let us make up for lost time for perhaps we have little time left. Death is close behind us; we die only once so let us be prepared. Again I say let us turn into ourselves; time presses down on us and each man is responsible for himself.

“Nevertheless, we must persevere since in the spiritual life not to advance is to retreat, but those who have been breathed on by the Holy Spirit move forward even while sleeping; if the vessel of our soul is still battered by winds or by storm, let us call on God who rests therein. He will soon calm the sea.”
