Persist in Prayer

St. Louis de Montfort

"We must pray perseveringly to obtain wisdom. The acquisition of this precious pearl and infinite treasure requires from us a holy importunity in praying to God, without which we shall not obtain it. We ought not to act as so many do when praying to God for some grace. After they have prayed for a long time, perhaps for years, and God has not granted their request, they become discouraged and give up praying, thinking that God does not want to listen to them.

"Whoever then wishes to obtain wisdom must pray for it day and night without wearying or becoming disheartened. Blessings in abundance will be yours if, after 10, 20, 30 years of prayer, or even an hour before you die, you come to process it. That is how we must pray to obtain wisdom."

God Alone: the Collected Writings of St. Louis Marie de Montfort

(Patricia: There is a difference between wishing and praying. Wishing is from you to you for you. Praying is a conversation with the Other.)
