[If you, as I have, experienced expending great effort in spiritual practice - perhaps concentrating with your whole being or attempting to repeat a mantra every waking hour, or sitting in meditation for hours, days at a time - you may appreciate the difference between that effort and Fr. Grou's beautiful suggestion, "let him see you, and do not trouble yourself about anything else", in which God's nearness is fully expressed.]
