"Solitude is the furnace of transformation. Without solitude we remain victims of our society and continue to be entangled in its illusions."
[The ideal is true solitude, time alone and away, out of the reach of all demands except an inner one for God, Ultimate Truth. Our time and culture has made that solitude more and more difficult for most. But we can find relative solitude. If you feel yourself a "victim of our society" turn off the TV/music/news, step away from conversation, and let the quiet and, if you have it, the solitude rush in. Take a deep breath, and then do just the next thing required. Otherwise the mind can keep you busy till you die. Patricia]
