The Deep Judgments of God

St. Antony

Abba Antony thought about the deep judgments of God and asked, “Lord, why do so many die young while others drag on into extreme old age? Why are some poor and some rich? Why do wicked men prosper while the righteous go wanting?”

He heard a voice answering him: “Antony, keep your attention on Me and on yourself. These things lie in the judgment of God, and it would do you no good to know about them.”
