Robert Cardinal Sarah
God always watches over us. Man may experience the darkest nights, endure the worst outrages, confront the most tragic situations, yet God is with him. Often man forgets that God is present. If he is an unbeliever, he supposes that God does not exist. If he has a faith that has grown lukewarm because of the secularized atmosphere of the times, he despairs, thinking that God has abandoned him. But the Father stays with him despite all possible denials. The Power of Silence
A dear friend who practices Tibetan Buddhism, wrote this to me:
I am renewing my practice of something I learned a few years ago.. It's called the Kuntuzangpo Prayer. Basically it relies on the principle that we are all connected in the Big Thing (God) and that our intentions can contribute to a 'field effect' that potentially influences others. I suppose there are plenty of other ways of describing the power of prayer. In any case, this one includes invoking the view of the Big Thing regarding all that exists and intending that each and all feel that within themselves -- and in this case, it goes "realm by realm", regarding beings in hell, hungry ghosts, animals, demi-gods and so-called gods as well as humans. One could also pick homeless people, old people who know not another soul, people living in dire straits, people of any stripe, afraid or grief stricken etc., and do the prayer of intending that they see the Big Thing as the Thing of everyThing, etc.
Whenever I do this, I feel like I am also prayed for, and that I have at least done what I feel personally is the best possible Thing.
May the awareness of all beings take its seat in the Ground.
