Pure Adoration

Bishop Robert Sarah

Without silence, the Church does not live up to her name. I fear that the reform of the liturgy...is often the occasion for noisy, purely human celebrations that are hardly in keeping with the will of the Son of God as expressed during the Last Supper. It is not a matter of rejecting the joy of the faithful, but there is a time for everything. The Liturgy is the place, not for human rejoicing, passions, a profusion of discordant words, but for pure adoration.

Today, noise invades so many aspects of people's lives. The Church would make a serious mistake by adding noise to the noise. Love does not need words.

The Power of Silence
