Our Lady Undoer of Knots
As a student in Germany Pope Francis saw the painting of Mary Undoer of Knots by Schmidtner. Moved by the symbolism in the painting he promoted her veneration. Mary is usually shown as the Queen of Heaven, a crown of twelve stars surrounds her head with the Holy Spirit as the Dove above her, standing on a knotted serpent and a new moon. Angels pass the knotted troubles of humanity to her to untie.
