Coming to the "Choiceless Position"

 Bernadette Roberts

It is a rather profound thing, isn't it, that the choice is between Christ and yourself? I don't want to say that you are choosing to be Christ, because there is no such thing. If you were transformed into Christ there would be no you anymore, there would just be Christ. I am not Christ.

So would you give up yourself to Christ? Would you choose to be so transformed into Christ that you would really no longer exist and there would just be Christ? That would be a good choice, but I think most people would choose themselves. From my own experience, strictly speaking, there is no choice -- there is no choice! When you get to what I called that "fine line", it is a choiceless position. If you choose yourself then you immediately fall back into self-consciousness, back where you started from. If you choose God, and you dive into what is beyond self, you are going to find it comes to naught. You jump into that unknowing and you find that nothing happens.
